If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen that I’m starting to share something new with my audience, and it’s about intentions I set with myself for the month. October was my first time doing them, and after reviewing the intentions I set, although I did not fully meet them, I did have some great momentum and met the minimum goal. I started implementing the minimum goal when I heard about the MTO goal setting process from Tracy Prahbu. I’ve always struggled with goal setting because I never gotten specific and placed deadline, but this goal setting method has helped me tremendously.
Goal Setting
I have gotten crystal clear on my goal setting because I was tired of getting vague results from my goals. I discovered a new goal setting method that works for me. In one of the many organizations I’m involved with Tracy Prahbu spoke about the MTO Goal Setting. This was an interesting concept I’ve never thought about and one of the other members explained that she didn’t really have any particular goals, and she was just moving day to day and doing her regular things. I realized that was me, but I also knew where I wanted to go. So October was all about setting out my specific MTO goal, and creating the master plan to get there. I am happy to say that I am excited for 2019 because of my diligence to achieve this goal.
Living My Best Life
This one came naturally to me but I wanted to make sure I didn’t lose sight of it when I turned 29. AS we get closer to milestone years, we started thinking about where we should be versus appreciating where we are. I’ve grown and learned to be content with what I have an where I am because I know that is where I am supposed to be at the moment, and that alone make me happy.
Health Routines
Since I transitioned into an office job, my lack of working out grew beyond what I’m comfortable with. My body was crying for it, and I have finally gotten back into a routine where I can silence the cry. Sometimes it’s easier to wait until the “New Year” or “when the time is right”. but when you feel it, move on it because that is the right time. I did get a new indoor spin bike to add to my arsenal of fitness equipment and it has made this intention much easier to achieve. I am working out more and more, and can’t wait to see how my body will re-adapt to the new challenge I have planned.
More Reading, Less Social Media
I have been able to read much much more, but I haven’t yet completed the book that I was reading. On the bright side, I drastically reduced my social media intake. With the new iOS12 on the iPhone, I have gotten my social media time down to two hours per day. Having the “Time Limit” message come up on my phone was a reminder that I need to continue to be productive to reach that goal I set, so I will definitely be utilizing that feature more, and hopefully get to a point where I’m on the phone less and less.
Morning Routines
So this intention did not magnify like I wanted to, but the biggest thing about this intention is that I finally started getting to bed at a decent hour and killed the mid-day naps. This was the biggest part of establishing a morning routine because there would be many nights where I would lay in the bed for hours on end before I could fall asleep. One of the things I was lacking was Vitamin D according to my doctor which was causing my mid-day fatigues. I have since started supplementing with Vitamin D, and my energy levels throughout the day have stabilized. Include that with working out, now when I get in the bed, I fall asleep within a matter of 10-20 minutes and I stay asleep through the night as well, which was another issue causing my mid-day fatigue.
If you don’t already, you can follow me on Instagram to see what my intentions for November will be. What are some intentions that you’ve set for yourself this month?
